Why Patient Research Starts With the Right People
Patient perspectives can provide some of the most valuable evidence in healthcare research, but only when the study reaches the right participants and gives them the right environment to share their experiences.
That means thinking about recruitment, representation, feasibility and methodology from the very start, not just as an afterthought once the study is already underway. This matters even more when working with rare disease communities or patient populations that are genuinely hard to reach.
At All Global, our team shapes the research approach around the question that needs answering. From recruitment and sampling through to qualitative and quantitative methodology, every decision is considered in how it strengthens the quality and relevance of the evidence collected.
Building the Right Recruitment and Sampling Strategy
Before defining how a study will recruit participants, we look at the research objective, the target population and what’s actually feasible. Recruitment isn’t a fixed process applied the same way to every project – it’s shaped by what the study needs to achieve.
Reaching Populations That Are Hard to Reach
For rare diseases and other difficult-to-reach populations, recruitment often means looking beyond a single source.
To solve this, we use our own patient panel, patient advocacy groups and physician referrals to find the right people for each study. We also adapt our invitations to each patient group, so it is easier for them to take part.
Protecting the Integrity of the Evidence
Reaching the right participants is only part of the picture. The evidence they provide needs to be trustworthy too.
For qualitative research, that means deduplication, fraud detection and quality checks throughout, along with proof of medication or device use where appropriate. Patient privacy and data security are built into the process from the outset, with GDPR and CCPA compliance running throughout.
A Panel Built for Diverse Patient Populations
Our global patient panel currently profiles 200+ conditions across the US, UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain, giving access to diverse patient populations while helping reduce reliance on the same, repeatedly-researched pools.
It Starts With the Right People
Good patient research should never be about recruiting as many people as possible. It’s about reaching the people who can genuinely speak to the question being asked, and creating the right conditions for them to do so.
