Is Predictive Analytics Ready to Move Beyond the Pilot Stage?

August 20, 2026

If you ask healthcare professionals whether predictive analytics is the future of clinical practice, most will say yes. Ask them if it’s actually being used in their own organisation today, and the answer gets more complicated.

We wanted to know where things really stand. So, in the latest wave of the All Global Future Trends Tracking Programme, we asked 1,500 healthcare professionals across six markets where they think predictive analytics currently stands, where they expect it to go next, and what’s in the way of wider adoption.

Where Does Adoption Actually Stand?

The current picture is one of early, selective adoption rather than broad transformation.

29% of respondents report using predictive analytics for selected clinical use cases, the most common adoption stage reported.  Only 10% consider it fully embedded.

But 68% expect that to change, with predictive analytics becoming increasingly embedded in routine clinical practice over the next three years.

The Picture Varies Considerably by Market

Of the markets surveyed, UK respondents report the highest level of broad or fully embedded use, at 31%.

Germany is a curious case. Despite generally being more advanced than other healthcare markets, it records the highest level of non-adoption of any market surveyed, at 30%, showing advanced infrastructure on one hand, but real hesitation on the other.

Spain and France tell yet another story: one further along, one still finding its footing.

So what’s really behind these gaps? The findings point to the same underlying tensions we see across the board, budget, integration and trust, but playing out differently depending on how each market’s healthcare systems, funding models and clinical cultures are set up. In other words: adoption isn’t just about the technology being ready, but whether the environment around it is.

The full Spotlight breaks down exactly what’s driving these differences market by market, and what it means for where predictive analytics goes next.

Where’s the Confidence Coming From?

That 68% who expect adoption to change isn’t just wishful thinking. Healthcare professionals already know where predictive analytics earns its place. In five of the six markets surveyed, early identification of high-risk patients tops the list of use cases, flagging patients who may need earlier or more intensive intervention before complications develop. France is the outlier, placing more emphasis on clinical decision support instead (56%) — a sign that adoption isn’t following one single script.

But knowing where it works isn’t the same as knowing how to scale it. Budget constraints and workflow integration came up as real sticking points across the board, cited by over a third of respondents as barriers to wider adoption.
